The New York Yankees have one of the strongest offensive lineups in the league. When the pitching department, including the bullpen, delivers goods to the team, they complement the offense pretty well. At present, the offense and the defense of the Bronx Bombers are working pretty well. The pitchers are helping the strong offensive lineup to get easy wins for the team. When the pinstripes are firing from all cylinders, it is hard to stop them from reaching the top of the American League East Division. That’s where the NY side is at right now.
They have played three more games than the Baltimore Orioles, their toughest division rivals in 2024. Nevertheless, when the team is enjoying good vibes in the clubhouse, and key players like Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres are getting back to their groove, it shouldn’t be very hard to maintain a winning streak. Regarding Torres, there are doubts about his future in the Bronx as the Yankees might trade him next offseason. But as long as he is part of the offensive lineup, his at-bat contributions do matter. Lately, Aaron Boone praised Torres after Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Yankees Skipper Said It’s Great When “Gleyber Torres Gets Going”
On Tuesday, the Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 5-1. Since April 22, the Twins had a good stretch going as they were 17-3. But the strong offensive performance of the NY side halted the Twins’ good stretch. The hitters of the Bronx Bombers had such a great day that they totaled 13 hits. Like Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres also had been going through an early season slump. In fact, Gleyber’s start was even slower than the Yankees captain. However, against the Minnesota Twins, Torres went 2-5. Later, in a post-game interview with YES Network, Aaron Boone said what Torres can do for the team if he starts to heat up. Moreover, the Yankees manager mentioned that it is huge, great news for the team.
Then, they can have a really long lineup in their offense. Overall, the game that Gleyber Torres played on Tuesday really pleased the manager. Moreover, Aaron Boone believes the hitter at second made some solid plays. The Yankees skipper praised Torres for a great base running play to get to third base. Adding to that, Boone said Torres set them up with one of those base hits as well. His two hits got another ball to center. That’s why Boone believes when Torres gets going, the team feels, “Yeah we’ve got some real length to our offense.”
The Two-Time All-Star Wants To Wear The Pinstripe Uniform For Life
Currently, Gleyber Torres is in the final year of his contract with the New York Yankees. So far, neither Brian Cashman nor Boone has talked with Torres about a contract extension. Hence, there is a good chance that 2024 will be his final year with the Bronx Bombers. But Torres told MLB.com that he does not want to leave New York.
He feels at home and believes, “These are my brothers and family here. I know everybody.” That’s why he wants to be a “Yankee for life.” He is only 27 years old. Perhaps the NY side can come up with a long-term plan. But Torres needs to keep up the good work and help in increasing the depth of the team’s offense.
