Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller is slowly making progress as he works his way back to the mound from a shoulder injury.
Miller threw a bullpen session on Saturday, and is scheduled to throw a three-inning simulated game Tuesday.
If all goes well on the mound, Miller will begin his minor-league rehab assignment. It’s unclear how many starts the 25-year-old will need before we see him on the big league mound. Considering it’s been a month since he’s pitched in a game that counts, it could take a handful of starts for Miller to get back to a familiar workload.
Miller was placed on the 15-day injuries list on April 13 with right shoulder inflammation. At the time, his timeline to return was unknown. A month later, that remains the case, though he is obviously getting closer. The Illinois native was the Dodgers’ first-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
In three starts thus far in his 2024 campaign, Miller has a 1-1 record, a 5.40 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and a 1.46 WHIP in 11.2 innings. Miller’s simulated games will tell us a lot about how far he is from returning to the big league mound.
